Welcome to Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy

A diverse group of youth mentors are employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy. Dedicated and fully-trained staff work to enable our young people especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential. Each club site and everyone in administration are all dedicated to help our youth achieve their highest potential.

Each member of our team plays an important role in shaping the future of our youth. Training begins on your first day at Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy and continues throughout your career. We use various methods of career development from orientations; direct peer to peer teaching, mentoring and coaching will be part of your training.

  • AA degree or
  • 48 accredited college units or
  • Qualified as a Para-educator in the Tracy Unified School District

PROGRAM LEADER

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the general supervision of the Unit Direct, the Program Leader plans, implements, supervises and evaluates all six core program activities. Must be cooperative, friendly and create a safe and harmonious environment. Abide by and support the Club mission to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive and responsible citizens.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL:

  • A.A. Degree or 48 credits from an accredited college or a paraprofessional certificate.
  • Experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time, motivate youth, manage behavior problems and work directly with the general public.
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with, organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Possess basic qualities of good character, personality and leadership that promote a positive image of the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License and be approved by the Club's auto insurance provider.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications; pass TB test, annual background screen and fingerprinting.

KEY ROLES:

  • Create a safe environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes, promote program participation and provide guidance to members functioning as a role model
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors.
  • Register new members and participate in new member and volunteer club orientation
  • Work with required staff to monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the unit at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
  • Must be prepared to provide guided tours and answer questions.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly unit staff meetings, and all-staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Operations

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, supervise, implement and evaluate age appropriate programs and activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to members concerning program and activities.
  • Promote and stimulate participation and interest of all members in activities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the club facility with emphasis on safety and sanitary conditions.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and requisition departmental supplies as needed.
  • Complete monthly calendar and statistical reports concerned with departmental participation and attendance. Submit daily and monthly program reports to the Unit Director.
  • Assist with all Club-wide special events as required.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and fill out appropriate Accident/Injury report as needed.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and any conferences or training sessions that the position requires.
  • Boys & Girls Club staff shirts and badges must be worn during Club operating hours and all Club outings where members are present. Staff shirts and badges will be supplied. See Unit Director if replacements are needed.
  • Should be sufficiently aware of all Club programs to answer basic questions and/or direct questions to appropriate person.
  • Must be aware of and should meet and greet the public, parents and members who enter the facility.
  • Create, prepare and update bulletin boards as needed. It is vital that all bulletin boards be kept neat, attractive and easily readable.
  • Maintain order and discipline members as needed. (Report all major discipline problems to the Program Director or Unit Director and/or fill out referral forms.)
  • Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
  • Maintain contact with external community groups, schools members’ parents and others.
  • May be required to drive the Club van.
  • May be required to attend evening meetings and/or limited travel to attend meetings
  • May be required to use personal vehicle in course of employment
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High energy level; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; tactful; flexible.
  • Must be physically able to interact and participate in all Club programs.
  • Work is conducted in a Club setting, indoors and outside.
  • Work may require varying schedules; including night and weekend hours.
  • May require ability to supervise
